Falcons 96 and 97 boys win TN State Championship

Tennessee State Champions 07-08
Congratulations Falcons 97 and Falcons 96

Falcons 97 and 96 boys traveled to Chattanooga TN during the weekend of November 10 – 11. The players, parents and coaches were cautiously optimistic and expected a good showing as a result of comprehensive training and good preparation. Both teams were approaching the end of very strong league and tournament seasons culminating to the state tournament finals. However, not even the most optimistic among us could have imagined the results of the weekend.

Falcons 97 boys

The Falcons 97 Boys played some tough opponents but game after game came out stronger and neutralized their opponents. Coach Tom clearly had the players believing this was their tournament to win. The boys played with flair but the execution was business-like, efficient and effective; it was clear the every single player knew that this was a state final and we were here to win it.

The 97s first faced a very talented and athletic Brentwood Inirgy Galaxy on Saturday morning and came away 4 – 2 winners in an action-packed game. The second game was quickly under control and ended in a resounding 6 – 1 victory for the Falcons 97 Boys. These two victories were good enough for automatic qualification and a semi-final spot.

The games get harder and but the 97 Boys get stronger. Faced with a stern test in TN United 97, the Falcons 97 boys kept their eye on the gold and put in the required performance; 3 – 0 to the Falcons.

Falcons 96 Boys

Falcons 96 boys have been a revelation in the league overpowering all opponents and playing at a level far superior to any team in the league scoring 77 goals and conceding only 9. Could this resurgent team translate this dominance at the state tournament final?

The Falcons 96 Boys play we but not their best in the first game only managing a 3 – 1 victory. A lot of credit must be given to our opponents, Impact Swoosh who were worthy adversaries. We won our second game easily but it was not enough for automatic qualification to the semi-finals. We would have to play in the quarter finals for a spot in the semi-finals.

The Quarter-finals were at 8:00 AM in frigid temperatures on a frost-covered field. Coaches, players and parents quickly warmed up to an 8 – 1 victory. Our opponents, the Greenville Galaxy coaches and parents were gracious and very complimentary of our playing style and sportsmanship. We were all business at the semi-finals winning 4 – 0 and ready for the finals.

The State Finals – 96 and 97 Falcons Boys
Both Falcons 97 and 96 teams had made it to the finals undefeated. Both teams were facing Knoxville Futbol Club (KFC) teams. The drama was heightened by the fact that the two final games were played on adjacent fields so the Falcons coaches were keeping up with each other’s games. Both Falcons teams played with an intensity that was electrifying. Both teams played with a level of comfort that was calming to our supporters as there was never a point in either game where the result was in doubt.

The 97 Falcons and 96 Falcons were comfortable Tennessee State Champions with scores of 4 – 2 and 3 – 1 respectively.

Way to go Falcons!!!
